Creston Mascota Mine is located in Chihuahua, Mexico and is owned and operated by Agnico Eagle Mexico. Tierra Group designed the Phase 4 heap leach pad, buttress, which included geotechnical investigations, slope stability analyses and a water balance for Agnico Eagle’s Mascota Mine 5,000 tpd heap leach pad (combined with Pinos Altos ore) in Chihuahua, Mexico. In addition, Tierra Group provided Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) services for phase 3 and phase 4 pad construction.
Phase 5 Heap Leach Pad is an expansion of Phase 4 with a proposed capacity of 2 to 3 million tons (Mt) of crushed ore. The project includes development of construction drawings and technical specifications to be used for the construction of the facility. The design includes slope stability analyses, seepage analyses, water balance to verify the size of existing ponds, and stormwater management to design diversion channels.
Tierra Group will also provide Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) services for the construction of the heap expansion, including construction observation, clay placement and compaction, and liner installation.
